The Adoption Process
We would like to thank you for opening your home and heart to a rescue cat. At Clan McCat, we welcome adoption applications from a variety of homes. Whether you're looking for an indoor-only cat, have children or dogs, or are part of an older household, we believe every family deserves the chance to provide a loving home. We do not have age restrictions for adopters; we simply ask for a backup plan to ensure the cat's future care in unexpected situations. Our focus is on finding the best match for both the cat and your family.
All our rescues arrive in the UK fully vaccinated (including Rabies), microchipped, dewormed and neutered. These costs have already been covered by the Rescuers or Clan McCat.

Our adoption fee is currently £339 (£625 per bonded pair / £650 for two cats).
Stage 1 -Application and Home Check
-
Submit an adoption application form along with a video of your home for the home check.
-
This can be sent via email or Facebook Messenger, whichever is most convenient for you.
-
Please note your application will not be complete or processed until we have both your application form and home video.

Stage 2 - WhatsApp Group
-
If your application is successful, we’ll add you to a WhatsApp group with the Clan McCat team and your cat's rescuer.
-
This group is a space for you to ask any questions you have about your cat/s and how the adoption process works.

Stage 3 - Video Call
-
If all goes well in the group chat, we’ll schedule a video call.
-
This is an opportunity for you to meet your potential new furry companion and for us to meet you and discuss the adoption further.
Stage 4 -Decision and Pay Deposit
-
After the video call, we’ll review everything and let you know if your application is successful.
-
If you are successful we then ask you to reserve your cat, we require a £50 deposit per cat, which will be deducted from the final adoption donation.
Stage 5 - We will send you your cat's fundraising link for their travel & add them to the next available flight.
Regardless of the cost of the flight (which varies between £800-£1200 per cat), we only ask our adopters for a minimum donation of £339 (£625 per bonded pair / £650 for two cats) and we fundraise for the rest.
Your complete Adoption fee is put towards your cat's travel costs. The amount doesn't cover all of the costs but it helps us to cover some and provides all rescues with the same chance of finding a good home and continue doing our rescue work. We use a trusted pet transport company, DL Pet Transport (https://www.dlpettransport.com), who are very reliable and DEFRA certified.
Once your cat arrives in the UK they are checked and cleared by a vet and then collected by DL Pet Transport from the airport who ensure your new family member is handled and transported comfortably to your front door and we fundraise to cover the cost of that too. You cat will arrive with a pet passport which includes your cats medical history and vaccination records.
